Households can apply for loft insulation grants when they have an uninsulated loft space or insulted with less than 100mm (4 inches)
if you have a typical loft with a pitched roof, it is a high energy efficiency measure to insulate it. Insulating is a natural process for our specialists, we will make sure that no risk of frozen pipes or any condensation by making sure any pipework or water tanks are insulated. As the roof space gets colder after being insulated, uninsulated pipework could freeze.
Free insulation grants are available to install cavity wall insulation, internal wall insulation, loft insulation and room in roof insulation. All private uk householders, in receipt of a qualifying income or disability-related benefit can qualify. We can also help with grants of up to 25% for external wall insulation. You do not currently need to be receiving benefits to qualify. External wall free insulation is also available in the kw, iv and ph areas of scotland, as long as the property is not on the gas network.
What free insulation can I get?
Some suppliers offer free insulation if you’re eligible under the eco scheme. For example, you may be eligible if you’re on government benefits. But suppliers will also take into account how much your home will benefit from insulation.
The green homes grant scheme will also provide free insulation to households in the lowest-income groups (you will need to be in receipt of certain government benefits). If you don’t qualify for this, the scheme will also provide vouchers for at least two-thirds of the cost of some types of insulation for homeowners in england. To work out which type of insulation is right for your home, read our guides to loft insulation and cavity wall insulation. Before taking up any deal, you’ll need to read the small print for each insulation offer to make sure you and your home are eligible. Companies typically need to be able to insulate at least two thirds of your loft space, and exclude properties with more than 60mm of loft insulation already in place. You may not be eligible if you live in a rented property, flat or maisonette, or a housing association or council property. Most deals apply only to people living in mainland britain. You may need to pay towards the cost of your ‘free’ insulation if you live in a particularly large or unusual house.
If someone in the household is claiming a benefit, you could be entitled to free internal wall insulation for your home. The property must also have walls that are of solid construction type and you should also own the property or be renting it from a private landlord. Up to 25% of the heat generated in your home could be escaping if you have little or no roof insulation. Energylink are currently unable to assist with a grant for pitched roof and flat roof insulation but we can help with loft insulation and room in roof insulation. Beware Green Homes Grant scams

It’s worth noting, however, that different energy providers have different eligibility criteria, and some offer home insulation while others are focused on boilers or other home energy efficiency measures. While we are offering one or more types of grant insulation, in some circumstances, we may also offer you a totally free boiler replacement as well using eco funding. in some cases, ‘top up’ improvements will be allowed such as additional loft insulation up to the recommended level or solid wall insulation for other walls where a wall has been previously insulated, but replacements are not included. For low-carbon heating systems to be installed, the property will need to have adequate insulation(e. G. Wall and loft).
If you home needs cavity wall and floor insulation costing £6,000, you will only pay £2,000, with the government vouchers contributing the remaining two-thirds. Agree to install an £10,000 air-source heat pump and the government will contribute the first £5,000 – or the whole amount if you are on benefits including working tax credit, child tax credit, universal credit and disability living allowance. To apply you must have received at least one quote from a green homes grant-registered installer. If the price seems unreasonably high, the scheme administrator may request that you provide another quote.

The council is currently working with a local contractor and scottish power to offer grants for cavity and loft insulation if you live in a privately owned property. home insulation material has been designed to slow heat flow. In simpler terms, the material has been designed so that heat cannot easily pass through it and escape.
It may seem wrong to talk about insulation and ventilation at the same time. However, adequate ventilation in your loft is essential to prevent condensation. If condensation does develop and cannot escape, in the long-term you could have more serious problems with damp. To prevent this we can install soffit or roof vents in your loft if there is no other suitable ventilation.
A surveyor will check for any problems, but loft insulation cannot be installed if:
there is no access or access is restricted. There must be a hatch or other access point that one person can easily fit through. If there is no hatch or it is too small, most of our installers can arrange for one to be fitted. There are a large quantity of stored items and you are not prepared to clear them. Installers can work around a few items but they will not move large quantities for you.
If your property is suitable you may be able to have a number of energy efficiency improvements installed in your home for free (subject to survey) including loft insulation and cavity wall insulation. Boiler replacements are also included on this scheme (subject to eligibility).
