What free insulation can I get?

The green homes grant scheme will also provide free insulation to households in the lowest-income groups (you will need to be in receipt of certain government benefits). If you don’t qualify for this, the scheme will also provide vouchers for at least two-thirds of the cost of some types of insulation for homeowners in england. What’s on offer and how do I get a boiler grant?
As with the boiler grants you may not be offered a grant that covers the entire cost of the insulation but a substantial portion of it. If this is the case you will be told how much you would need to contribute before deciding to go ahead; you’re under no pressure to agree to anything you cannot afford.
The council is currently working with a local contractor and scottish power to offer grants for cavity and loft insulation if you live in a privately owned property. Subject to eligibility aid maybe also available for room in the roof or internal wall insulation if the property is suitable and the householder is in receipt of an energy company obligation eligibility benefit.
