You cannot claim a green homes grant voucher towards the cost of a measure which has also had funding under the energy company obligation ( eco ). You can claim both eco and green homes grant as long as they are each for different measures – for example loft insulation and cavity wall insulation.

What free insulation can I get?
Some suppliers offer free insulation if you’re eligible under the eco scheme. For example, you may be eligible if you’re on government benefits. But suppliers will also take into account how much your home will benefit from insulation.
The green homes grant scheme will also provide free insulation to households in the lowest-income groups (you will need to be in receipt of certain government benefits). If you don’t qualify for this, the scheme will also provide vouchers for at least two-thirds of the cost of some types of insulation for homeowners in england. If someone in the household is claiming a benefit, you could be entitled to free internal wall insulation for your home. The property must also have walls that are of solid construction type and you should also own the property or be renting it from a private landlord. Up to 25% of the heat generated in your home could be escaping if you have little or no roof insulation. Energylink are currently unable to assist with a grant for pitched roof and flat roof insulation but we can help with loft insulation and room in roof insulation. Beware Green Homes Grant scams
Eligible households can apply to any participating energy firm – not just the home’s supplier – to get a free home assessment. It’s worth noting, however, that different energy providers have different eligibility criteria, and some offer home insulation while others are focused on boilers or other home energy efficiency measures. See below for further details. During a home assessment, your property will be examined to see what energy efficiency measures are already in place. New properties are generally well insulated, for example, but older homes may suffer from poor loft insulation and have cavity walls without any insulation installed.

What can I do if I have problems with my insulation?

Problems seem to be concentrated on the west side of the country, including in south-west england, west wales, north-west england and north-west scotland. It may seem wrong to talk about insulation and ventilation at the same time. However, adequate ventilation in your loft is essential to prevent condensation. If condensation does develop and cannot escape, in the long-term you could have more serious problems with damp. To prevent this we can install soffit or roof vents in your loft if there is no other suitable ventilation.
A surveyor will check for any problems, but loft insulation cannot be installed if:
there is no access or access is restricted. There must be a hatch or other access point that one person can easily fit through. If there is no hatch or it is too small, most of our installers can arrange for one to be fitted. There are a large quantity of stored items and you are not prepared to clear them. Installers can work around a few items but they will not move large quantities for you.
Why has cavity wall insulation been installed inappropriately?
A grant of up to 25% can be claimed towards the cost of external wall insulation. Prices typically range from £7,000 to £15,000. Energylink can arrange a free survey and quote from an accredited local installer. Free external wall insulation is also available if you live in kw, iv or ph and do not have mains gas. External wall insulation is normally installed in properties that have solid brick or concrete walls. It can also be fitted to homes with cavity walls that are not suitable for cavity wall insulation.
If your property is suitable you may be able to have a number of energy efficiency improvements installed in your home for free (subject to survey) including loft insulation and cavity wall insulation. Boiler replacements are also included on this scheme (subject to eligibility). Our scheme is called cosy homes in lancashire and is backed by all the lancashire local authorities and we have funding available for owner-occupiers and private tenants to install a number of measures. Blackpool council is working with local authorities in lancashire to help households access funding for energy-related improvements to their homes. If your property is suitable you may be able to have a number of energy efficiency improvements installed in your home for free including loft insulation and cavity wall insulation.
