If the energy suppliers fall short of their obligations they receive hefty fines. Some energy providers are lowering the criteria for eligibility as they struggle to meet the targets. This means that most householders are now able to obtain free insulation measures.
Free insulation grants are available to install cavity wall insulation, internal wall insulation, loft insulation and room in roof insulation. All private uk householders, in receipt of a qualifying income or disability-related benefit can qualify. We can also help with grants of up to 25% for external wall insulation. You do not currently need to be receiving benefits to qualify. External wall free insulation is also available in the kw, iv and ph areas of scotland, as long as the property is not on the gas network.

What’s on offer and how do I get a boiler grant?
As with the boiler grants you may not be offered a grant that covers the entire cost of the insulation but a substantial portion of it. If this is the case you will be told how much you would need to contribute before deciding to go ahead; you’re under no pressure to agree to anything you cannot afford.
Good news – from the 1st october 2018, eco3 was launched and removed the caps on household income making it much easier to qualify for free home insulation 2020. As long as you are in receipt of certain benefits then the application is very simple. Your property must be of a size and structure that is able to create sufficient energy savings from the insulation installed using its deemed score. While we are offering one or more types of grant insulation, in some circumstances, we may also offer you a totally free boiler replacement as well using eco funding. The scheme has two categories of home improvements: primary and secondary. Homeowners are only eligible for a secondary grant if they are also receiving a primary grant. Primary green homes grants grants will be available to homeowners installing:

If you home needs cavity wall and floor insulation costing £6,000, you will only pay £2,000, with the government vouchers contributing the remaining two-thirds. Agree to install an £10,000 air-source heat pump and the government will contribute the first £5,000 – or the whole amount if you are on benefits including working tax credit, child tax credit, universal credit and disability living allowance. To apply you must have received at least one quote from a green homes grant-registered installer. If the price seems unreasonably high, the scheme administrator may request that you provide another quote.
